Electricity prices to go down in second half of 2020

For the second semester there will be a decrease in the average electricity rate without subsidy of 1.2% in Edemet's customers, 4.9% in Edechi and 8.9% in ENSA, informed the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) during a Virtual Information Forum.

For the period from July 1 to December 31, 2020, the subsidy granted by the State through the Tariff Stabilization Fund (FET) will be maintained for consumption from 0 to 300 kWh from Edemet, ENSA and Edechi, as well as the Western Tariff Fund (FTO) subsidy, aimed at almost all of Edechi's clients, explained ASEP administrator Armando Fuentes.

The projected cost of the subsidy for these clients in the second semester will be $40 million. Fuentes said that a bill to subsidize customers who consume between 301 kWh and 1,000 kWh per month is pending approval in Cabinet.

It had been estimated that the cost between regular and extraordinary subsidy is more than $100 million.

Fuentes explained that he has made the proposal to the Executive for this extraordinary subsidy but it will depend on the response that there is before June 30 with this extraordinary contribution from the Executive, the amount of which he did not disclose.

It would have to be calculated for the second semester of 2020 or for the months of July, August and September, Fuentes explained.

In the first semester that is about to end, the State contribution to the subsidy was $ 117 million, including the subsidy to customers who do not have this benefit and who consume between 302 kWh and 1,000 kWh per month.
