DSE candidate released on bail after pretending to be cop and cheating HK$430,000

An 18-year-old DSE candidate who pretended to be a cop and cheated an elder HK$430,000 appeared in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Saturday morning and saw his trial adjourned to July 6.

Lo Sum-long was charged with conspiracy to obtain property through deception and falsely pretending to be a public officer.

Lo need not enter a plea yet, awaiting further police investigation. He was released on bail for HK$20,000 plus HK$10,000 personal sureties by his father.

The first charge alleged him of lying with two men to a 64-year-old man that he was involved in a money laundering case on the mainland and demanded him to wire HK$434,000 to two unknown bank accounts between Monday and Wednesday.

The second charge alleged he presented a counterfeit police warranty card to pretend to be a cop in Tseung Kwan O on Monday.

The bail conditions included reporting to the police station twice a week and handing over all traveling documents. He must not leave Hong Kong or contact witnesses summoned by the prosecution.
