Donald Trump, the first former US president to face federal criminal charges, is currently facing multiple legal cases

He is accused of endangering national security by holding on to classified documents after leaving the White House and of making hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels to silence her over claims of a tryst.

He is also under investigation for his role in the January 6, 2021 assault on the US Capitol and for pressuring officials in Georgia to overturn the 2020 election victory of President Biden.

The special counsel Jack Smith is responsible for these cases and may decide if Mr. Trump faces charges.

Donald Trump and his three children were sued by the New York state attorney general for fraud over the valuation of assets to secure loans and minimize taxes.

The suit seeks $250 million in penalties and bans the Trumps from serving as executives in New York.

Trump denies any wrongdoing.
