Director of Administration Daniel Cheng to become Secretary of Office of the Chief Executive-elect

Director of Administration Daniel Cheng Chung-wai is to assume office as the Secretary of Office of the Chief Executive-elect, a source said.

The sole chief executive candidate John Lee Ka-chiu will announce his political platform at 11am on Friday. It was understood that to ensure the new Chief Executive could start work immediately after the election on May 8, the Hong Kong government has organized the Office of Chief Executive-elect.

Lee's former subordinate, the current Director of Administration Cheng will be the Secretary of the office.

The office was conducted by some 20 people and is responsible for co-ordinating the handover arrangements for the new government.

Cheng joined the administrative service in July 1989 and rose to the rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in April 2018. He has served in various bureaus and departments.

He has been serving as deputy secretary for Food and Health since September 2016 until assuming office as the director of administration on July 20.
