There will be special crowd control and traffic arrangements in West Kowloon Cultural District on New Year's Eve, ahead of a countdown concert organized by Tourism Board that evening.

The “Hong Kong New Year Countdown Concert” will start at 10pm on Friday at the Great Lawn of the Art Park in the District, featuring musicians from Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as well as pop idols such as the boy band Mirror.

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority announced on Tuesday that public car parks in the district will be closed for entry except Xiqu Centre Car Park starting 2pm Friday.

At 4pm, the Artist Square Bridge connecting Artist Square and Kowloon MTR station will be closed, while all vehicles in the Art Park Car Park, Zone F Car Park and Project Site Office Car Park must leave the district.

Starting 6pm, a one-way pedestrian system will be adopted and ticket holders must enter the event venue via Nga Cheung Road, the footbridge across Kowloon entrance of Western Harbour Crossing Toll Plaza and the footpath along the WKCD waterfront.

As for the general public heading to the Art Park, they should enter via the entrance on Museum Drive near Nga Cheung Road.

By then Museum Drive and Cultural Drive will be closed to traffic. Only vehicles with a valid permit will be allowed to enter and leave the closed area.

On New Year's Day midnight, visitors can leave the Art Park via West Gate of West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade or Museum Drive. Museum Drive and Cultural Drive will be gradually open to traffic.

The M+ museum will close at 2pm while the Xiqu Centre will open as usual that day.

The public must show their tickets before entering the concert. They also need to scan the LeaveHomeSafe venue QR code and verify their identity with their ID card.
