43-year-old policewoman So Po-yee was released on bail after she appeared in court for assaulting her Indonesian domestic helper and even stealing her phone.
She faced charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm for allegedly assaulting her domestic helper Choiriyah on June 19 and July 4 at a flat in To Mei House, Yau Mei Court in Lei Yue Mun.
She was also charged with theft for stealing a gold Samsung mobile phone belonging to the domestic worker on June 19.
She has been suspended from her work.
The policewoman appeared in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court today (Monday) and was not required to plead for the time being.
She was released on HK$500 bail, and is required to reside at her reported address. She is also banned from contacting the prosecution witnesses.
Principal Magistrate Bina Chainrai adjourned the case to November 22.
