Competition Commission names new chief executive

The Competition Commission announced today the appointment of Rasul Butt as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective May 3 for a term of three years.

Butt spent more than 16 years at the Urban Renewal Authority and joined the commission as Executive Director in 2015. He was appointed to the position of Senior Executive Director the next year.

Samuel Chan, Chairman of the Commission, said Butt will be taking on the role as the first local CEO of the Commission.

“He has made significant contributions to various aspects of the Commission’s work over the past six years, I am confident that he will be able to lead the Commission’s executive arm in continuing its mission of safeguarding market competition in Hong Kong through effective law enforcement, policy advisory and advocacy,” said Chan.
