CIA Informed of Ukraine's Plans to Sabotage Nord Stream Gas Pipeline in June 2022

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that the CIA was informed by a European spy agency in June 2022 that a Ukraine special operations team had plans to blow up the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

The information was allegedly leaked by a low-level US Air National Guard computer technician who had access to classified materials.

The explosion in September 2022 rendered the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines useless, cutting off a potential source of billions of dollars in earnings for Russia.

The suspects include Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, but all have denied responsibility.

German investigators found that a six-person team used false passports to take a sailboat from Rostock to undertake the operation, and metadata from the emails used to rent the sailboat tie them to Ukraine.

However, a Russian navy vessel was also seen near the location of the sabotage.
