While the airport and sea ports in the Cayman Islands remain closed, it is obvious that as time progresses some people need to leave the Islands for a many of reasons.
Anyone wishing to leave the Cayman Islands on Cayman Airways or charter aircraft are now able to make travel arrangements directly with the carrier.
Anyone wishing to travel to the Cayman Islands or on the British Airways air bridge still need to register at TravelTime.
A compulsory 14-day isolation period in a government managed facility is required for persons wishing to return to the Cayman Islands.
TravelTime system was established by the Cayman Islands Government since the beginning of July to manage both outbound and inbound travel, while the Cayman Islands’ borders remain closed and scheduled commercial flights are not available.
In order to streamline the process, the persons who have already applied to Travel Time for outbound travel to locations serviced by Cayman Airways can now make their own reservations.
The persons contracting a charter service or traveling via private aircraft, authorisations for these flights must be granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (www.caacayman.com).
All outbound passengers are subject to normal Customs and Border Control processes in order to exit the country.
Anyone who wishes to travel directly to London via the British Airways air bridge should still register with TravelTime, which works collaboratively with the Governor’s office.
During the border closure, all international flights will depart from Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman.
TravelTime will continue to manage all inbound travel for Caymanians, permanent residents and work permit holders.
People are reminded of the requirement for mandatory isolation over 14 days in a government isolation center upon their return.
Demand for these facilities is currently very high, and inbound travel approval will be subject to availability of space in government isolation centres.
Persons leaving the islands are reminded that there is no guaranteed return on a specified date.
Those persons who intend to return to the Cayman Islands are still required to register with Travel Time.
