CE office apologizes for "spelling" China's name wrong

The Chief Executive's Office has apologized after a screen displayed at a press conference hosted by Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor this morning “spells” the full name of China wrong.

Lam talked about the National Games at the press conference this morning, with a back drop saying “The 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China” and the slogan “Enjoy the Games, Cheer for Friendship”.

The English spelling was correct, but there was a typo in the Chinese name. To translate it roughly, the wrong name says “China, People's Republic”.
The CE office apologized for the typo and said it won't happen again.

The typo drew the attention of netizens. Many joked Lam “violated the national security law” or even commit “subversion” by spelling China's full name wrong.
