Carrie Lam visits CityU Veterinary Medical Centre

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor visited the City University of Hong Kong Veterinary Medical Centre in Sham Shui Po today.

She also met with the senior management of CityU at the main campus to learn more about the latest developments of the university.

Lam said the establishment of the vet center not only provides diversified education for young people, but also enhances Hong Kong's international status in the relevant area.

She also pointed out that Hong Kong is promoting equestrian sports and relevant industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

“I hope that the university will give full play to its advantage in veterinary medicine and life sciences to nurture needed talents for Hong Kong,”Lam said.

She added that she was pleased to note that the university is taking forward the work on the establishment of a campus in Dongguan and actively encouraging students in Hong Kong to take part in innovative activities and entrepreneurship.

The Veterinary Medical Centre, established by CityU in 2014, is the first and only veterinary college in Hong Kong. It was later renamed as the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences.

The vet center is a leading one-stop veterinary center in Hong Kong and Asia, providing primary care, specialist, 24-hour emergency services, as well as clinical veterinary training.
