Carrie Lam speaks to secondary school students in policy address consultation

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor visited a secondary school in Tsing Yi today and spoke to the students there in a policy address consultation session.

Accompanied by Calvin Lam Lo, Po Leung Kuk's chairman of board of directors, Lam arrived at Po Leung Kuk Lo Kit Sing (1983) College in Tsing Yi.

The school first shared with Lam its experience in promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and invited her to take a look at some of the award-winning inventions by students there, as well as some STEM education materials.

Lam then proceeded to the school hall and spoke to around 60 secondary five and six students in a policy address consultation session in person. The session was also joined by around 800 students from 16 schools under Po Leung Kuk via video meeting.

The session lasted for an hour. Around 20 students expressed their thoughts, covering different issues like youth development, education, innovation, healthcare and green policies, as well as national security and strengthening support for athletes.

Lam in the end thanked students for voicing their ideas regarding the policy address.

She also said a bright future awaits Hong Kong with the support of China and advantages under the “One Country Two Systems” principle, and encouraged students to equip themselves well and pursue their dreams.
