A cargo ship was spotted ablaze offshore near the Lamma Power Station this morning. It is understood that a 51-year-old mainland crewman has died.
Firefighters received reports of the fire at 8.46am this morning, deploying fire boats to fight the blaze.
The Government Flying Service also responded to the scene to help with the rescue.
Sources said 12 crew were rescued from the vessel, including 11 men and one woman.
The cause of the fire was confirmed to be of suspicion and the case has been transferred to the police for follow up investigations.
