Care home at centre of murder investigation after resident found dead

A second care facility in London has today become the centre of a murder investigation.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to the adult care home on Glen Road, Newham, around 3.45am to reports of a resident being injured.

They found a 34-year-old man with serious head injuries, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another resident of the facility was arrested there on suspicion of his murder.

The 21-year-old man was taken into custody where he currently remains.

The force confirmed both the victim and the suspect were residents at the facility.

A statement from the Met said: ‘Police and London Ambulance Service attended to discover a 34-year-old man with head injuries.

‘Despite the best efforts of emergency services, sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘An investigation has been launched by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command who are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin.

‘A post-mortem examination is due to be held at East Ham Mortuary tomorrow.’
