Budapest Prepares to Assist Refugees from Ukraine

The Municipal Council of Budapest is taking a number of measures to assist refugees arriving from Ukraine and is prepared to offer accommodations and meals to 2,000 people immediately, the Office of the Mayor told MTI on Saturday.

The mayor has informed the interior minister of the preparations to assist war refugees and is in contact with district councils and civil organisations, the office said in a statement.

Institutions and companies of the municipal council have been tasked with ensuring the refugees accommodations in council buildings as well as three meals a day, the statement said.

Local council staff are communicating with workers at the Hungarian-Ukrainian border and with civil organisations offering humanitarian aid, it added.
