British PM Boris Johnson Feels at Home in France

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson feels at home while meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at Elysee Palace, France, Thursday, August 22. Johnson put his shoe up on a coffee table at the meeting on his first trip abroad as the British prime minister. The two leaders looked amused.

The meeting comes as Brexit deals are underway. Johnson is seeking to persuade European Union leaders to reopen Brexit talks or face the prospect of its second-largest member leaving abruptly on Oct. 31 with no deal in place to mitigate the economic shock — a move that businesses expect would cause major disruption.
