Beer drinkers will want to head north to get cheap pints as prices have risen up to 42p.

Preston’s pint-suppers get the best value, paying a bargain £3.06, according to research by finder.com.

The Lancashire city is 41% cheaper than London, where a pint will set you back £5.18.

And the UK average is £3.72.

A beer in Liverpool (£3.27) will cost you nearly a pound less than in nearby Manchester (£4.11).

But the cheapest in the world is in Mozambique at just 39p, while the priciest is Qatar at £10.30, a study to mark International Beer Day today found.
