BioNTech will send more jabs to HK and Macau as soon as conditions permit

Suppliers of the German-made BioNTech/Fosun vaccine will delver new batches of jabs to Hong Kong and Macau as soon as conditions permit.

This came after investigations found the packaging issues of the Comirnaty shots supplied to the two SARs emerged during shipping, but not the manufacturing process, Fosun Pharma, BioNTech’s partner for mainland, Hong Kong and Macau said yesterday.

Fosun said despite the quality of the jabs not being affected, all the vials with problematic seals have been retrieved from vaccination centers as a precautionary measure.

Both SARs have suspended inoculations with the brand’s vaccine since last Wednesday, followint reports of packaging issues.

In order to resume the vaccination programs at the two cities, Fosun said BioNTech and it are evaluating the conditions to send new batches to the two SARs and when conditions permit, they will be delivered as soon as possible.
