Sales volume of Hungary's biggest brewers rose 1% year-on-year to 4.539 hectoliters in January-September, Sándor Kántor, the head of the Hungarian Brewers Association, said in business daily Világgazdaság.
Sales were still 5.5% under levels in the same period in 2019, Kántor told the paper.
He said brewers face a number of difficulties in 2022, including higher energy prices and a labor shortage affecting many sectors.
"Maintaining the usual quality and selection in this unpredictable environment will be a challenge for both small and big producers alike," he added.
The association data includes sales of Borsodi, Dreher, Heineken Hungária, and Pécsi Sörfőzde, as well as of importer Carlsberg Hungary.
