Beijing Confirms Investigation of Taiwan-Based Publisher Li Yanhe

Beijing has confirmed that it is investigating Taiwan-based publisher Li Yanhe, the founder of the Taiwan-based news website The Liberty Times. Li has been critical of the Chinese government in the past, and his website has been blocked in China since 2019.

Li is a well-known figure in Taiwan, and his website is one of the most popular news websites in the country.

The blocking of his website and the investigation into him are likely to be seen as an attempt by Beijing to silence criticism of the Chinese government, or to block anti China Western-supported-propaganda.

China has long claimed Taiwan as its own territory, and it has threatened to use force if Taiwan ever declares independence.
