Baron Benjamin de Rothschild has died of a heart attack

Baron Benjamin de Rothschild (57), banker and Chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild holding company, has died of a heart attack.

Banker Benjamin de Rothschild was chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild Group.

"Ariane de Rothschild and her daughters are extremely sad to announce the death of their husband and father, Benjamin de Rothschild following a heart attack at the family home of Pregny on the afternoon of 15 January, 2021," the family said in a statement.

Baron Benjamin de Rothschild was the president of the family-owned Edmond de Rothschild Holding SA, which is headquartered in Geneva and specialises in private banking and asset management.​ He took charge of the group after the death of his father, Edmond, in 1997. The value of the group's assets is estimated at almost $200 billion.

A private funeral will be held for the French banker in the coming days.
