Baptist University adds national security course to graduation criteria

Starting this school year, Hong Kong Baptist University freshmen have to pass a national security course in order to graduate.

The course description is listed on HKBU's website. It includes an introduction to the importance of One Country, Two Systems and the constitutional status of Hong Kong under China's constitution and the Basic Law, as well as the importance of the national security law and the rule of law in Hong Kong.

Students are required to attend two hours of face-to-face classes, read specified materials and pass a test.

The new course requirement applies only to freshmen starting this school year, and not the other undergraduates who started earlier.
