Music Nation Group, the organizer of the Mirror concert in July, could be banned from holding concerts in the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's venues permanently, says the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung Yun-hung.
Yeung said the company is not allowed to rent any LCSD venues until authorities have finished the investigation and judicial proceedings of the incident that injured three dancers.
Speaking at a home affairs, culture and sports panel meeting yesterday, Yeung said as Music Nation has breached the conditions, the authorities may consider making the ban permanent.
"The hirer [Music Nation] has obviously violated the conditions of use. Since the investigation is still ongoing at this stage, we will temporarily suspend its bookings before an investigation result comes out, or the judicial proceeding has been completed," he said.
Yeung said future concert organizers will have to hire third-party engineers to conduct an audit if Engineering Impact and Hip Hing Loong are involved. They were the main stage contractor and subcontractors for the Mirror concert.
"A separate professional will be needed to prove that stage installations made by Engineering Impact and Hip Hing Loong are safe."
Apart from Hong Kong Coliseum, where the Mirror concert was held in July, the LCSD is in charge of 15 other performance venues in the city.
Besides concerts for Mirror and Error - another boy band under Makerville Music Nation had also been the organizer of various concerts in Hong Kong, the mainland and overseas.
On July 28 a giant screen fell during a Mirror show at the Hong Kong Coliseum, injuring Mo Lee Kai-yin, Chang Tsz-fung and Zisac Law Tak-chi.
The incident left 28-year-old Mo in danger of being paralyzed and he has been in hospital since the incident three months ago.
Four men and a woman, who work for Engineering Impact and Hip Hing Loong, were arrested on Friday as the government task force announced its probe results on the incident.
The five were granted bail on Saturday. Four are suspected of fraud and allowing objects to fall from a height. The fifth was arrested on suspicion of allowing objects to fall.
