Andorran justice has locked eight accounts with a total balance of 37 million euros (33.5 dollars) connected with former leaders and figureheads close to former Panamanian president Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014).
The leaders, businessmen and senior officials for Odebrecht, the Brazilian construction giant who starred in the largest corrupt plot in Latin America, will not be able to enjoy their hidden spoil in Andorra. A judge of this principality ordered 30 accounts in the private bank of Andorra (BPA) and one in the Credit Andorrà last March with a total balance of 52.2 million euros (51 of dollars), according to the documents to Those who have had access to the country.
The funds belong to former directors, public employees and testaferros who charged the infrastructure company in exchange for the award of public works. And among the fortunes locked, there are three million euros (2.9 dollars) in tanks and opaque accounts linked to businessmen and senior officials who exercised during the second term of the late Peruvian president Alan García (2006-2011). Also, 34 million euros (33.5 of dollars) connected with releases and straw men of the former Government Chief of Panama Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014).
The embargo affects 282,701 euros (279,393 dollars) by Alecksey Mosquera, former electricity minister during the mandate of Rafael Correa (2007-2017) and 1.4 million euros (1.3 dollars) of two former Odebrecht former directives.
The balance held (52 million) represents a quarter of the 200 million that the Brazilian construction company disbursed in Andorra - an armored country until 2017 for bank secrecy - to buy the wills of 145 politicians and senior officials of Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina.
