The Ministry of Agriculture considers afforestation and the increase of forest areas to be a priority task, the Deputy State Secretary for Forests Sándor Szentpéteri said on Friday at the presentation of the tree planting and afforestation program of District XVI in Budapest, according to profitline.hu.
Szentpéteri noted that the extreme weather climate change brings particularly affects big cities, where trees provide shade, bind dust, catch winds, improve livability, and are simply more beautiful, he said.
He praised the District XVI initiative, which, he said, is the first municipal afforestation in the capital since the change of regime.
