A triad-related gambling den smashed, 22 people arrested

A triad-linked gambling den was smashed. Some 22 people were arrested in a Kwun Tong industrial building near Shing Yip Street at about 11 pm last night.

During the crackdown, police arrested a 68-year-old man surnamed Lee on suspicion of managing a gambling establishment.

Another two men - who were suspected of assisting the gambling establishment - were also arrested.

Officers also arrested six men and 13 women, aged between 28 and 68, for participating in illegal gambling.

During the operation, HK$20,000 in cash was seized, along with three electronic mahjong tables and six sets of mahjong.

Officers suspected the mahjong den was triad-related. They said they would strictly enforce the law to stop triad activities.
