844 packages of drugs, 136 weapons and $133,000 seized in May

A total of 844 drug packages and 370 ecstasy pills were seized from May 1 to May 31 in Panama.

In addition, some 1,328 people, linked to different crimes, were detained.

136 firearms were seized: 57 pistols, 39 revolvers, 16 shotguns, 5 AK-47 rifles, 1 M4 rifle, 1 submachine gun, 6 rifles, 11 pellets and 1,552 ammunition.

According to Jorge Miranda, general director of the Police, these results were obtained in 364 raids and 51 operations against micro-trafficking and coordinated with the Public Ministry.

"We have had situations of violence between criminal groups mainly," said Miranda.

Additionally, $133,741.92 was seized in cash and two boats, 7,605 various goods, 26 cars and 13 cattle that had been reported stolen, were recovered.
