Some 58% of Hungarian banking customers use their card daily for in-store payments, and 72% of those surveyed pay this way several times a month, according to Mastercard.
The Free Association researched card usage patterns in November 2021 on behalf of Mastercard.
The survey is representative of the population aged 18-65 living in the city with a bank account.
According to the study, the pandemic has brought about a radical change in daily payment habits, as many have turned to safer, more digital payment methods than cash.
The research showed that the changes proved to be lasting in Hungary.
