A total of 19 people were arrested when police raided two units in Mong Kok and Cheung Sha Wan, finding a gambling den and an operating party room.

The operation was carried out in a unit in Splendid Center on 94-108 Larch Street at 10:30pm yesterday. 11 men and five women aged between 22 and 37 years were arrested for gambling.

They were also fined with HK$5,000 fines for violating social distancing measures that ban gatherings of more than two people.

A 25-year-old female surnamed Kwong was arrested for operating a gambling establishment and breaching the Cap. 599F Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) ( Business and Premises) Regulation. A 30-year-old man was also arrested for assisting in the operation or in the management or other control of a gambling establishment.

The police confiscated two gambling tables, some gambling tools and HK$43,000 cash.

Meanwhile, officers from Crime Kowloon West Headquarter swooped a unit in an industrial building on Cheung Sha Wan Road, discovering an operating party room.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for violating Cap. 599F while 11 men and eight women were slapped with the fine for violating the two-person rule.
